Hi,
eachtime i insert my disk in the the floppy Drive and try to read it i've got a message saying " your Disk is not formatted, format it now ?" ... and the Disk is working somewhere else ( another floppy drive ) ... does it mean that the floppy Drive is damaged ??
thanx

It sounds as though the disk may be damaged, you might try running Norton Disk Doctor on the floppy to repair any possible problems

beginner, your floopy disk has to be in a format
other than 1.44, like it can be formatted as 1.2
which is japanese version.

Look on the disk, is it a MacIntosh format or an IBM compatible format? Have you ever been able to use a floppy disk?

I face this problem in my company quite often, most of the time I just clean the floppy drive and then format the disk. use another computer to copy out all the needed data from the disk first of course. :)

could be. Also, it could be the data ribbon (that attaches to the floppy drive from the floppy controller via the motherboard. As other's have mentuioned try different floppies. If no go, I'd check the above.

MINE DID THE SAME. I USE WIN ME.
GO TO THE DEVICE MANAGER. REMOVE THE FLOPPY DISK FROM DISK DRIVES. AND REMOVE THE FLOPPY DISK CONTROLLER FROM FLOPPY DISK CONTROLLER. RESTART. THE O/S WILL REINSTALL THE DISK AND CONTROLER.
THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM.
