HOW CAN I REMOVE A PROGRAM OTHER THAN ADD/REMOVE P

I've tried to remove mcafee virus scan v 5.0 with add/remove programs, installing mcafee virus scan v6.0 so that the v 5.0 would be uninstall autmatically and both times I receive error msgs stating 'fatal error during installation'.. and the program is still on. Can anyone tell me of a way to delete this program other than uninstalling.. SAFELY?

Help would be GREATLY appreciated... :o)

One thing I like is go into the registry:
Start
Run
Type"regedit"

Then select the drop down edit menu to reveal
"find". In that field type in McAfee. It will locate the first entry of McAfee in the registry. Delete it. A pop up will ask you if you are sure. Yes you are. Then RIGHT AFTER deleting it hit the F3 key on your keyboard it essentially will find the next entry and so forth. Continue to do this until it says it is finished. Reboot. Then try to install the new McAfee. It should work. Let me know.

Just delete the folder from program files. Works when I have programs that have problems a will not uninstall

Go to the top of this page and select registry/downloads then download "Reg cleaner" this will enable you to delete progs from the registry for good. I used it to get rid of the last few files of norton system works 200/2001 and it worked great
