A few weeks ago AOL messenger was downloaded without disabling Norton virus & Firewall, and since then I've had major problems, blue screen of death appears at shutdown, sometimes it takes 2-3 tries for Windows to load successfully, and computer runs very slowly (not all the time, but some of the time.) Web pages load slowly too. Then on Friday I downloaded the most recent Norton Virus update and made new Rescue Disks and after that all hell broke loose! Ctrl Alt Del wouldn't reboot, Windows wouldn't load (took 3 tries) and the error message said Norton was still running in the background and that I needed to close it! but it wasn't running in the background! (yes I did remove the floppies). So, totally petrified, I did a complete virus scan, which was clean. Last night I ran Utilities, intending to do everything which I generally do once a week, first check said no problems detected. I decided to delay defragging in order to perform all the other checks first, and the blue screen OD comes up again with the message
A fatal exception OE has occurred at

Rebooted fine this time, then tried to run Utilities again and I keep getting error messages that there is a script error on the Norton page & do I want to continue...so of course I don't. And I can't defrag, it won't let me.
WHAT IS GOING ON??????? help please!
I'm trying to blame AOL messenger, I didn't download it (it's my computer but another user does and I know she didn't disable Norton before doing it, did this cause the problem? how do I fix it? I know how to fix her hahaha but right now it's the other stuff that's the problem.) And did I mention that Outlook Express has been working even slower than usual???? and when I type a reply to an email sometimes it takes a long time for the letter to show up, and between the time that I press SEND and it actually goes I could walk the dogs and wash the dishes.
I hope somebody can help me figure this mess out.
