Im very sorry that it is taking me so long to bring out the newest version....

Actually, about a month ago I was ready with version 1.4. However I was delayed..

I'm going to post what happened so everyone knows how important it is to back up their valued data in a timely fashion.

I usually back up my source code after making changes. However, I hadn't backed up anything for a couple of weeks. I also have a help file (which was at about 10,000 words and counting). The help file hadn't been backed up in months.

The Executioner disables access to the CD-Rom. However, at this time my code only stops access to one CD drive (I have two. A regular cd and a cd writer).

I am at work... My son stayed home from school that day (he's 11). Mid afternoon, my son calls and says there's a problem with our PC. I said ok, what's up. He said the system won't startup. (I cringe) I said, what is the exact error message? He says "The Operating System can't be found". (I triple boot 98, NT, 2000). I say to myself, ok maybe he deleted bootsec.dos. I said to him, what did you do just before the message starting displaying. He replies... I tried to install Linux. (I have suse 6.3 on the bookshelf)

There you have it..

He said he couldn't get the CD-rom door opened (The Executioner was active) so he used the other CD-rom drive. During his install, he said the PC froze and when he rebooted the error message appeared. He inadvertantly wiped out the file system. The main problem was that I hadn't backed up my help file in months. It was gone.. :( Tears....... 10,000 words + never to be recovered again.

After re-installing 98 I recovered my source code from my last backup. I didn't have too much to re-code. However, as you will see, the Help file is extremely important as it covers every option in detail.

So here we are today... The help file is about a 3rd of the way back to where it was. I have added many new options...

Here's a few of them..

Stops Software Installations

Disables the Startup Folder (any profile including administrator and all users as well). All startup items now must be configured using the Form3 fields. (This gives total control over startup options).

I added the restrict run tweak. You can designate up to 9 programs to run and 10 more (which can be set in the Form3 fields). total of 19 programs. You can add/remove items to run on the fly without logging off/on. (The Executioner always Starts up no matter what and regedit can be accessed through the Executioner).

Hides the Taskbar. I mean completely removes it.

I also added a tweak called Batch File (stealth mode). The Executioner disables the bat extension by default. However, you can use the batch file stealth mode to run a batch file on startup of the Executioner.

Disables access to scanreg

I added a form4. This allows the admin/user to change their password. (case sensitive, any length and any character).

I added code that allows The Executioner to start as a service (95,98). Took me awhile to figure out how to keep the service going when a user logs off/on. (Still working on NT/2000)

I am now working on a new menu for win 2000 users. I just finished code that disables any access to Network and Dialup connections. An admin can input the desired settings and any existing Local connects will be active. However a user can't access any of the options nor create a new connection of any kind.


I am also adding code to many of the options that when checked will work on any version of windows. (this has been time consuming).

There's many more tweaks that have been added.

I'll need a few more weeks to be ready to send 1.4 out. (However, If you want it now, I'll send it).

The help file won't be included and there still isn't an un-installer yet.

10X many many 10X.I hope that you finish your work soon.This is the great program.I would like to ask you if have any problem to add a option to hide the icon in the taskbar.Some people when view the icon and see the restriction try to start to kill the program.I want to ask you if have any possibility to gain access to the source and if yes will be the source free of charge or ...how will cost.I want if the Executioner is ready to send it to my e-mail address.Thank you in advance Patric.Thank.
