When I used to drag and drop exchange *.msg files to a folder, and they had the same subject line (file name) as a file already in the folder; the file name was automatically appended with the next consecutive number (examp: filename.msg, filename(2).msg) just like NewFolder and NewFolder(2).
Now, after reloading WIN98 or 2K, when I drag and drop a same named .msg file, I get the "Confirm File Replace" dialog box.
I don't want to loose the second mail message or replace the first. How do I get back to the previous condition?
What is the right terminology for the auto-file-rename condition I've described?

Are you saying in Exchange itself, or Windows Explorer.

Ok, my memory might not be that great, but the only time I;ve seen the (2) added was with a shortcut and the New Folder as you described above. In Windows Explorer anyway.

Up until I reloaded Windows 98. When I draged and dropped an Exchange message with a subject line of say: "RE:Message" to a folder that already contained a file: "RE Message.MSG" the dragged and dropped file would automatically be added to the file as: "RE Message(2).MSG.
Now I get the "Confirm File Replace" dialog window.

I WANT BOTH FILES! I used to get both file, what do I have to do to get back what I had?

Sorry, I don't use Exchange.
