I am in the process of restricting our school's workstations (running Windows 95 and 98) and I've encountered a few problems with Windows Explorer and the Quick Launch bar. Ideally I would like Windows Explorer not to run if the 'Explorer' option is selected from a context menu, and for the shortcuts in the Quick Launch bar to remain unchanged. Similarly we rely on a lot of free software packages that add extra options to context menus that we would really like to remove using policy files. e.g. Add to this... / Open in that...

Our pupils are quick learners and short of using a different shell (not an option unfortunately) we are constantly having to repair the damage that our charges wreak on the school network. So I'm wondering is there any way to implement this level of security without resorting to 3rd party applications which we can't afford with our non-existant budget?

Thanks
