Case sensitive filenames

I regularly transfer files from Win2000 to Win98, however, when they arrive on my Win98 machine some files have been given an upper-case character. It wouldn't usually annoy me but this application is case-sensitive (Java) so I have to rename them all to get it to work (about 300 files)

J am not on a Win98 machine now, but J somehow remember there was an option to force short 8.3 style filenames to uppercase only (msdos style). If such a setting exists, J would expect that you can find it in Windows Explorer, Tools > Folder Options >View tab, as one of the checkbox options.
