make two partitions on your harddisk, install Win98 first, then make a fresh install of WinXP into the second partition. The result should be a boot menu that allows you to choose from one of the two OSes. Use XP System Properties dialog to modifiy settings of this menu (timing, defualt OS).
Read the README.HTM in the root directory of your XP installation cd.

Do I absolutly nead to install winXP on an other partion? When I instaled my XP in an other folder next to windows 95, I couldnt boot back to win95. I tried to start my computer with some 95 and 98se system disks and type C:\windows\win.exe in pure DOS. I only got a BSOD telling me about some VFAT initialisation error.
Could there be a trick at winXP installation to keep other windows version in the same partion? Something like modifying BOOT.INI. I used to be able to do that with win2000pro.
