Windows froze...Your kidding! What were you doing when Windows froze?
It may be caused by programs that you had running at startup, such as Anti-virus, firewall, CD-RW, printer, Iomega or other utilities.
Re-loading Windows is a big mistake if you've upgraded Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, and/or DirectX. You have essentially downgraded all those components on your machine.
Could also be bad RAM chips. If your configuration allows it, remove one chip and try again. If that doesn't help:
Insert the command DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS /TESTMEM:ON into your Config.sys file. Watch your screen for a
message HIMEM has detected unreliable memory at address xx:xxxxxx, which will certainly indicate that there's a memory problem.
