Ok I got a sweet installation of win2000, been running it for about a year now, no problems whatsoever, What really are the benifits if I upgrade to XP? Basically I love the look of XP is there a way to add these looks to 2000, or will there be in the future. I had windows blinds installed, it did the job, but that programme was buggy as hell.

Hi !
That's a new look and feel for the XP series and cannot be retrofit on Win2K. Has something to do with the new handling of themes.
What's the benefit of the upgrade:
Less administration - especially necessary for the SOHO and home market. More multimeadia support, CD-RW and DVD especially, digital photography and video support.
But before you move to XP, evaluate if you have been using local user groups. This is not a feature anymore on a standalone XP machine. It's plain Administrators and Users only, and Users may be somewhat restrictive.

Sounds sketchy to me, in your honest opinion, are you gonna upgrade, I know sooner or later we all will, but I just want to know if it's worth it to Jump on xp the band wagon A.S.A.P.

"...are you gonna upgrade..."
J will keep running for some time with previous versions of Windows, at least until J have XP compatible versions of all software J am using. And maybe J will even wait for SP1. But all this has also to do that J am very conservative as far as the GUI is concerned and will continue to use "old style". J don't need all that colourful flashy stuff for my business work.
"...sooner or later we all will..."
sooner - J have started to look at RC2 version a couple of weeks ago, to check out what's coming, and J have just passed a long night with a first test installation of the final WinXP-Pro build 2600 in a standalone version. But that's the development environment - the playground.
"...want to know if it's worth it to Jump on xp the band wagon ..."
as always in computers: "leading edge - bleeding edge".

I changed to XP Porfessional, not for the interface (which I dont like, thankfully you can "turn it off"), but rather, cuase it ran everything that I wanted to run. This eliminated the need to dual boot 2000, to run all my work software, with a Win9x program, to run all my games that didnt run in Win 2000.
Thats just my opinion, I really didnt like dual booting!!

With the recent release of the Windows 2000 Compatability Update, I have been running all software now, not to mention games, I think this is what windows 2000 needed from day 1, cause it's now perfect.

for some, such as MSDN subscribers of the Universal (/images/forums/icons/smile.gif like me /images/forums/icons/smile.gif) and Professional programs, but also a few early customers of pc manufacturers, XP/Final build 2600 is available and running.

XP comes out on the shelves in the US @ the end of this month.
I've been using it off and on since Beta 2 (Oct 2000) and recently was using the final release. I ended up going back to Windows 2000 because not all the drivers are at the XP level and the integrated CD Burning in XP caused waaaaay to many problems.

Frankly, as much as I enjoy XP Pro, your sweet 2000?, stay with it or dual boot. Many interesting features but OS you are happy with is primary factor would think.
