Well Bilal, I can answer part of your question. You cannot make the icon back ground transparent by editing the registry. What you need is a program that can let you edit icons or edit specific parts of your desktop. However, earlier on, just a few weeks ago a similar discussion took place and you can probably find it on this forum or in one of the other forums. In that discussion a program was suggested to make the icons transparent, it was called "transparent" it is a very small free program, I use it and it works great take up no resources...

Well Bilal, the reason that the version is not showing on your desktop is that this website is wrong... it asks you to create a DWORD and set it's value to 1. WRONG webmaster please correct this. You have to create a String Value NOT a DWORD value and set it to 1.

So.. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Control Panel\\Desktop
New String value: PaintDesktopVersion
value: 1

it works great, I tried it...
