Hello,

I recently lost the ability to see my Windows Desktop Version on my Desktop. It used to be there. I have Win 98 SE. I have gone to
http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/539/ and my registry looks exactly like that. The PaintDesktopVersion has a value of 1. Could something else be turned on/off in my registry, that is preventing it from showing?

Thanks to anyone in advance. This is really annoying me.

Try HKEY_USERS and see if that works.

I did as you suggested. I went to HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\desktop
and added the Dword value of 1 for PaintDesktopVersion, but had no luck. It still doesnt show the version. Thanks anyway.

Are you using "old style" desktop or Active Desktop - J seem to remember that this only worked the old way.

I use the old style desktop. I have never used the Active Desktop.

Try a StringValue instead.
