i am experiencing a large yellow question mark
in my device manager list. it is next to the label "Other devices" and contains the sub-section "PCI Multimedia Device."
This device is listed as not "using any resources because it is not currently enabled or has a problem. "
I can glean the following information from the "Set Config. Manually" tab:
Interrupt request 04
Conflicting device list:
Input/Output Range 0000 - 00FF used by:
Motherboard resources
Input/Output Range 0000 - 00FF used by:
System speaker
I notice that under the "Ports" drop down "Communications Port (COM1) is also using Interrupt request 04.
I am wondering what all this could possibly mean. I've tried removing the device but windows wants to do a plug and play driver install at startup. i've also tried updating my SB Live! drivers. what is this phantom device??
I'd like to have a nice and clean system. any thoughts?
unusual stuff on my system:
SB Live! value
Verizon DSL modem through a NIC card
US Robotics 56k modem
2 hard disks (primary WIN, secondary Linux, booting using LILO)
USB MIDI interface (midiman)
USB zip drive
