desktop icons

I was wondering if it would be possible to view my desktop icons in a list, like you can do in any folder viewed through windows explorer. I've been looking through a lot of options and I don't think it's possible without editing something in my registry. Please, any help is appreciated.

I don't know any easy way of doing this -- you could probably reduce the icon size to 16 pixels, and also reduce the icon spacing then turn on auto arrange. It wouldn't give you exactly the same view as list mode but it would be more condensed.

Well, the thing is, that I've tried doing that, but it still has the filename below the file, not to the side. Oh well, it isn't a big deal, just something I would have liked to do. Thanks for the help.
