Hi all,
While doing extensive surfing, I needed to get back to a earlier page so I clicked the drop-down menu next to the 'back' button on the tool bar. After realizing that I was surfing for some time, I tried using the 'View' menu option 'Go to' but this only shows what the 'Back" button drop-down menu shows so, I had to click the last visable link then repeat the process several times to finally get back to the page that I wanted. There must be a way to increase the amount of previously visited pages in this drop-down menu from 9 to whatever, as well as the 'Go to' option from the 'View' menu which is probably the same file. Any ideas or a solution would be greatly appreciated.

What about going to History>View>By Order Visited Today?
Pick out the previously visited site from there.
Hope that helps. /images/w3t/icons/smile.gif

I do not know where the number of listed files resides within the registry but I surf in a way that may suit your needs without changing the file size.
Firstly, I have the Open In New Window set to always open in full screen.
I arrive at the regedit forum page via a shortcut, we will call this page one as found in the Back button's list. From there I will click on the Registry forum making it page two in the list.
When I view a posting in the registry forum I use the right click, open in new window to view it. When done I close the new window and I am back at page two. I continue to do this until I am done with the registry forums and then click the back button to page one.
I then click on General forums making page three and so forth.
When I go to another website from the forums page (page one) it will become page four.
When I am done with the surfing for the session the only pages saved in the Back button's list are the main pages I visited and not every page I visited.
If I go back and can not find the specific article or page then I click on the History button as suggested by billydee as the history shows the specific page title.
Surfing this way limits the amount of pages to list in the Back button's list. It will list the Main pages that I have visited and History has all of the pages I have visited.
Increasing the Back button's list size would still not contain enough to see all of the visited pages as the History button directory tree does.

If you want to set your IE to have the Open in New Window always open in full screen let me know and I will repost the instructions or you can search this site under the key work Maximize.

I could not find the instructions using the keyword so here they are;
1. Right click on blank area of this or any other web page, Select Create Shortcut.
2. Go to new desk top shortcut and double click on it.
3. Click on the title bar and drag it to the upper most, top left hand corner.
4. Place cursor on the bottom right hand corner (to get the angled double arrows) and drag it to the lower most, bottom right hand corner.
5. Hold down Shift key and close the window by clicking on the X in the top right hand corner.
6. Right click on the shortcut and select rename. Rename it frm2new.htm
7. Go to Explorer and expand the directory to C:\Windows\Web and see if a file by that same name exists, if it does then rename it to frm2newold.htm
8. Drag the new desk top shortcut to this folder and you are done.
Note: On a rare occaision something will cause the New Window to open not maximized again. Simply go to the C:\Windows\Web folder, double click on the frm2new.htm file, stretch it out as explained before and you will be back in business.
In step #7, if you do not find the file then simply place the new one there.
