Taskbar Auto-hide

Is there any way to speed up the auto-hide function of the Win98 taskbar? The animation seems to take forever and I know there's a MenuDelay value which can be tweaked through the registry, but it doesn't control the taskbar.

J don't know of any, and hiding the taskbar depends also on user interaction, move the mouse away far enough (really annoying) or click into another window - has something to do with switching the focus of windows. If an application signals that it wants your attention (on win2k) you will see its button in the taskbar coloured and have to respond first to this.
