my new comp is compaq armada e500 series notebook. i 'd liket to use a wheel mouse instead of
bothersome touch pad. but, not all the times but sometimes and frequently, the wheel mouse which is ps/2 compatible doesn't work well with my notebook. i mean it doesn't move well, i can move it on only horizontal direction. and, even it's movement is not soft .
i first thought mouse driver didn't fit this mouse.
but, the driver is quite suitable one for this mouse(ps/2 compatible ).
how can i fix this problem? or is this a usual phenomenon happening in the notebook?

please help me~!

Sounds like a dirty wheel mouse more than a driver problem -- take the ball out and make sure all the rollers are clean (use a bit of cleaning alcohol).

I will have to second that reply. If it only moves in one direction, then the ball in the mouse is dirty.
