Someone has changed the registry settings on
an office P.C which prevents the CD playing
audio CD's. The audio tracks have .cda file
extensions.
Do you know how I can restore the registry to
allow .cda files to play on the C.D ??
This might not be related to the registry at all.
Hold <Shift> down and right-click on any .cda file. A <Open With> meny will pop up.
If your cd player is not listed, click <Other> then navigate your way to C:\WINDOWS\Cdplayer.exe. You say it's an office PC. In that case somebody <administrator>
could have put (or erased) the cdplayer. If you find it double click on it and it will be transported to the <Open With> menu. Now select it again.
If this did not solve your problem I do have some other solutions for you.

Your solution will make changes in registry, for sure. :-)
If your solution failed, try this:
Change value of Default key to "cdafile" for this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.cda
There should be relevant "cdafile" settings in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\cdafile
