View Full Version : Open COM Port error message

I recnetly installed a Creative Labs modem on a Win95 device. After checking in Device Manager (under modems), I noticed that there appeared to be two modem drivers -- referring to the same Creative Labs modem -- installed, #1 and #2.

I removed both, and reinstalled again...the same two drivers appeared. So it seems that this is a normal part of the modem driver install. Anyways, when I attempt to dial out using NetZero, a get the following message:

Connection problem 602. Port already open.

I've observed, that the two modem drivers in Device Manager are pointing to two different comm ports -- driver #1 is on comm 2 and driver #2 is on comm 3. Driver number #2, however, does not allow manual switching of ports. And driver #1, does not have a comm 3 to select from, in the drop-down list.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
