how do i change this icon to something else?

you can delete the ie icon you have now on the desktop and replace it with a shortcut from the root program where ever you have iexplore saved. One drawback to be able to change the icon is that you won't be able to access the internet options by right clicking the icon but will have to goto the control panel to access it.
