I'm running Win98 SE 4.10.2222.A and have been trying to figure out something for a while now. In Windows Explorer, you have the options of arranging the icons in any way you want (by name, extension, etc.). I want ALL of the folders EVERYWHERE to list the icons by extension, but I've never been able to figure out how to do this on Win98 (Win2k does it easily) aside from going into every folder and setting it to this (and I'm not keen on wasting a weekend). "View > Folder Options > View > Like Current Folder" won't work and I'm figuring I need to find something in my registry to tweak.

I've searched the site and haven't found any resolution to this problem. If anyone can help out, I'll be greatly indebted.

thanks, `Croe

Sometime the is : Do not open any folder before restarting Win98.

You can also set "Classic Mode" in the general tab

And uncheck the "Remember parameter for each folder" (or something like that)

Go to MY COMPUTER - VIEW, check Details. Now go to VIEW - FOLDER OPTIONS - VIEW. Uncheck "Remember each folder's view settings", check "Show all files", Now press the button at the top "Like Current Folder" and press OK at the bottom.

Open Windows Explorer
Click on "View"
Click on "Folder Options"
Click on "View" Tab (Middle One)
Uncheck the line: "Hide File Extensions for Known File Types"
Then check the line right under that one which says: "Remember Each Folder's View Settings"
