Yes, you can move the directory but then your computer will be in dreamland there are some things you don't mesh with and this is one of them
There is to many thing that reference this directory by default.....

ok.

I understand windows\system directory is very important. I know that!. And my question is not a stupidity. Just, how can I "say" to a program that looks for the DLL's elsewhere.

thanks.

You will have to change to many things in the registry plus alot of the .dll automaticaly look in this folder by default plus when you load new software it will look in that directory So follow my advise do not change this you are looking for trouble.......

If you look in the registry (use find dll) you will see how programs reference the .dll files this is not the only director with dll files other programs that you run keep them in thier directory sometimes

Mac!!!!!!!
My policy on my putter is to leave things default and only load new software on the default desktop
the default desktop is when you depress the cancel key when you log on if you are running a mutiuser platform

What makes you want to move the files in the first place????????????????????

You've asked this question 3 or 4 times already. You made no mention about where Windows looks for DLLs, you just repeated the same question again and again.

Why are you so secretive about your question? Give us the exact details and we'll give you an intelligent answer.

You most likely can't tell the program where to look. It looks first in the directory the executable file is in, EXCEPT when the file is already loaded into memory from the c:\windows\system directory on startup of your computer.

That's why you should rid your machine of duplicate dll files. The newest ones should be placed in the c:\windows\system directory and the older ones should be renamed, then deleted if you have no problems.
