all your settings are valid for Poledit.exe and will not change. In poledit, as you already have setup Familiy logon, you will see an icon for the local machine and incons for all your defined users.
Just take care, there is an option to restrict the use of Poledit and Regedit, so make sure if you set it at Local Computer level, then enable it for your own user icon (in the same session or before) or you will lock yourself out of these tools.
If you have smart kids, be prepared that they will find ways to work around some of the restrictions on a stand-alone system.

I got my other hard drive set up as a back door if i mesh up to bad....I don't give away all of my tricks to my family......Chris had a friend that would always say I didn't know how to set up a putter (old 486 system/win 3.11 needed diff config setting per game was using menu items to boot) he would change stuff and get my autoexec.bat and config.sys all meshed up when he would leave chris would come and get me and I would just use my install disk that I made to put it back the way it was before.......LOL on Dave he never knew we let him play.........
I allow my family users to see all the stuff on my putter cause I have trained them what to do and what not to do......I just want to limit certain things for all users including myself (not the default desktop) they will be reminders like you can not install software from this desktop only the default desktop
Any way when I do install this to the putter will I have a xxx.pol file per user or is there just one file for all users......
If I open my back door and delete the xxx.pol file/s will It be back to what it was before
Are there any other files it generates that need to go
because right now there is one system.dat file for all users and one user.dat file for each users plus the user.dat for the default desktop
Mac!!!!!!!

let me start with your last paragraph:
"...there is one system.dat file for all users and one user.dat ..."
This is how Windows behaves. You really only have one (1) System.dat file. It holds mainly the stuff that you see under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE in the registry editor. Don't try to establish this file per user.
"...like you can not install software from this desktop only the default desktop ..."
here you may be up to a disappointment, that's something you cannot restrict just by native Policies on the Win9x series. You will need some third party software to monitor user activity.
"...I will have a xxx.pol file per user ..."
Just keep everything in the one policy file. There is an entry to define from where policies should be loaded from (intended for a server environment), just use this entry to point to the xxx.pol file on your harddisk.
"...Are there any other files it generates ..."
no
PS. maybe J am repeating someing already know: you will have seen at this site many registry tweaks that set "...\Policies\..." keys. These are nothing else than the direct hacking of what can be done with the Poledit.exe as GUI, or with the Group Policy Editor on the WinNT/2K series.
