How do you change the "menu show delay" for application menu's in Office 97. I have installed MS Office 97, Office 97 SP1, and Office 97 SP2. The menu's in all of the Office applications drop down very slowly.

Check the already-documented link at this site for Performance. This subject is addressed.

The "Menu Show Delay" that I was referring to is analogous to what I am looking for in Office 97. The URL http://www.regedit.com/Performance/ is specifically for the start menu. I wanted to know if there is a similar regedit for Office 97 Menu Speeds, ie... click on File then New... These menu's should be responding very quickly. There should be very little delay from the time you click on File until its menu options are displayed. The response lag that I am getting in Office is very noticeable. Thanks for your help.

Hello again. The information I gave is correct. The OS handles Window-action routines in appl sftwr.
Another thing you might check in Word:
Tools/Customize. In the Customize pane, click the Options tab
Change the "Menu Animations" to none.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your latest suggestion. I changed the value in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]"MenuShowDelay"="0" to "500", logged out and back in and noticed significant difference in start menu delay. However, I did not notice any change in the menu delay in any of the office 97 applications. Your direction to "Customize" was right on target. Once I set the animation option to "none", it was flying. Thanks again.
