View Full Version : Missing background in folder web page view

Hi

Using Win 98. For some reason I have lost the faded blue background that shows behind the folder name (which is in bold black font), when viewing files in Explorer when 'view as a web page' is selected. There used to also be a thin red/green/blue line (or similar) under the folder name. These show on the left hand side of the right pane. I don't mean a background that covers the whole right pane - just the stylised blue 'smudge'.

The 'cogs and wheels background' that used to be behind the folder title when viewing the windows or system folder have gone too.

The thumbnail and attributes remain beneath, and while it works ok, it looks too plain without the background.

I have looked at the desktop.ini and folder.htt files but cannot see where the reference to the small backgrounds would go. Also the scheme used to affect all folders, so presumably not previously stored in folder.htt

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have all these?

C:\WINDOWS\WEB\WVBACK.GIF
C:\WINDOWS\WEB\wvleft.bmp
C:\WINDOWS\WEB\wvline.gif
C:\WINDOWS\WEB\wvlogo.gif

Thanks for the reply.

I have searched my harddrive and have not been able to locate those files in any folder, let alone the windows/web folder. Where can I get these from?

I have the recovery CD that came with the computer but all files there seem to be zipped archives.

Cheers

Go to Start>Run, and type sfc, choose extract one file from the installation disk and follow the prompts to copy the files to the c:\windows\web folder. Do one file at a time.
