How could I change the default in page setup "paper size" for windows2000. Because Japenesse version W2k paper default is A4 and I need it to be Letter. Please help. I already tried setting the default on the printers but the programs take over and sends the print job A4

To my knowledge there is no global setting for the whole office family.
For WinWord as a sample, open the Normal.DOT template, then go to Printer Setup in the File menu, adjust to Letter, then save and replace the Normal.dot template file. If you are using other (self prepared) template files, use the same procedure. Do the same with any of the other apps that have templates. Any new files using the templates will then be based on the Letter format.
You may want to have two templates, one for letter and one for A4, so just save the template with another name. Remember that the New... menu item will show you the list of templates to choose from. Personally J have also configured the Blank Paper icon to bring up this selection panel rather than opening an empty page based on Normal.dot.

In addition, the paper size send to the printer depend on two thing :
The default setting of the printer driver.
The page setup of the document (depending of the software).
The OS has a default setting depending of the language wich is used each time you add a printer.
The setting of the driver is used by basic software as the notepad, but software with document setup as the MS Office override it when sending it to the printer.
So even if your default template for new documents use the right paper size, your old documents still have their own settings.
As Richard wrote it, you can save your new settings for Word by saving the normal.dot, but the other templates won't be changed (and it's only for Word, not for Excel,...).
So, if you're using Office, maybe the Japanese version is like the english one : when installing it you can choose default paper size and dictionnaries.
So maybe reinstalling it and checking this option can solve your problem.
