win 2k keeps thinking my printer is pnp at startup

I currently am having a problem every time i start my computer win 2k sp2 tries to set up my hp printer as a pnp device when it is plugged into the pass through port on my scaner. when plugged in by itself it's ok. what i get is 4-5 requests from win 2k in a row at start up, and after i cancel them all is ok, printer works ok scaner works ok. it's just anoying as hell.
Please help me get rid of this problem, Thanks!!

Goto your device manager look under LPT1 and you should see a checkbox that says,something about detecting plug and play printers.Check to see if the box is marked.If it is then you know what to do. :)
