I'm having a problem with IRQ or PCI bus conflicts....

I recently upgraded my computer to a 1.2GHz Thunderbird with MB. Prior to that, I was running two sound cards. One was a Sound Blaster clone which was part of the MB, and the other is an Emu Digital Studio. My new MB has a resident sound card, and I've also plugged my Emu into a PCI slot.

When I boot, I can hear the Emu sound card begin the Windows Flourish, but then it gets cut off, and neither sound card can output streaming audio from that point onward. My Emu sound card won't play, even when I disable the onboard sound card in BIOS.

My Emu still functions as a MIDI controller....

As a related problem, my Voodoo 3 video board (PCI) display gets grainy (pixilates) during action games, which wasn't a problem before.

Any reason why your running two sound cards?

You should be abl to disable to onboard one in the BIOS

I'm a musician/composer. One sound card functions as a playback while the other sound card does the recording. This allows me to monitor the main tracks without letting them walk all over my dubbing.

I've disabled the onboard sound card in BIOS, but doing so doesn't allow my other card to run. Likewise, NOT disabling the onboard sound card has no effect on my Emu. I haven't been able to get the onboard sound card to work at all. At one time, I actually had one of the processors on my Emu running while playing a game, but I didn't have the presence of mind to document my settings.
