I just put a computer together for a graduation present for a friend and everything works perfectly except for one thing. When the monitor powers down from inactivity it won't come back correctly. I move the mouse and I get a scrambled screen when it comes up and the computer is completly locked up.

I have a AMD Anthalon 1.2 and an ASUS A7A266 MB and Windows ME.

I have been to AMD's site and couldn't find anything and I have also updated the drivers based on what ASUS had put up. I tried to update the BIOS but the one I downloaded was the incorrect one according to the utility that came with the MB.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure, but you might want to check the Standby settings both in Windows and in the BIOS. I can't offer much more help, but I thought those would be two places to start.

What video card?
Got the latest drivers for it?
I was getting lockups like that at random times with a Matrox G400. Installed latest drivers, problem solved.
