Hi...
I have been trying to install Netmeeting in my Windows ME system, and I keep on getting this error message in just about the last step of the installation:
Netmeeting
Conf
Conf has caused an error in MSVFW32.DLL.
Conf will now close.
If you continue to experience problems,
try restarting your computer.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall it many times. I have also tried to install the older version of Netmeeting. No luck!
Any suggestions please???
Thank you.

I realize this article pertains to Win98 and an older version of NetMeeting, but if you have a Matrox card, it may be worth looking at.

When you start Microsoft NetMeeting in Windows 98, you may receive the following error message:

This issue can occur if you are using a version of the Matrox Millennium driver that is earlier than version 4.12.0.13.

You may be able to work around this issue by lowering the graphics hardware acceleration level. To reduce the graphics hardware acceleration setting, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click System.
On the Performance tab, click Graphics.
Move the Hardware Acceleration slider until it is one notch to the right of None (the basic acceleration setting).
Click OK, and then click Close.

Dear Reghakr,
Hi there (it's great to meet u here too!). Thanks for your suggestions. I had read that document from Microsoft and had tried to search for Matrox in my laptop, but I could not find it. Perhaps my Acer system (Win Me) does not use it.
I had also tried the reduction in the graphics hardware acceleration, but that did not help either.
I am really sad that I have not been able to install Netmeeting on my system and I so wish to do so, so that I may be able to use the video function to chat with my brother in London!!
If there is anyway you could pls help me, I'd be sooooooooooo happy.
Thanks again.
Dr Rasu.

Rasu,
Hey, welcome!
Have you just installed a camera or PC cam also?
Try this:
Then right-click on the icons in the tray area, choose "close" or "exit".
Then tap the Alt_Ctl_Del keys and end task on all items except for explorer and systray.
Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the c:\windows
temp folder and delete all files and folders that reside here.
Now try the install again.
