Anyone using Genie Backup Manager Pro 8.0 with Windows 7 64 bit and Spyware Dr with AV 8.0.0.606 having issues?
My backups worked fine until installing SWDRAV 8 - now I get HARD ERROR saying don't have access to drive. It creates the backup, BUT, on the next run, which is supposed to be incremental, it creates a full backup and again generates HARD ERROR.
Did not have this issue prior to SWDRAV 8. This past weekend I did a complete system wipe, reinstalled Windows 7 and all apps thinking that would solve the problem. NOPE - same issue. :-(
I've checked everything and the only thing that changed between backups working and generating HARD ERROR is the upgrade to SWDRAV 8.
HELP!

Is anyone from tech support going to reply????? Best I can tell something is preventing "permissions" to create the backup file main.gbp. GenieSoft says it is antivirus issue... what say you?
I have intelliguard potentially unwanted products checked in SD. Is there a way I can "whitelist" files with extension .gbp, .c000? I've add the applications to the global actions allowed but that did not solve the issue.
HELP!

I can not help with your problem, but.. I have experrienced so many problems with Genie in the past that I gave up on it.
I found GFI to be an excellent backup for data and Macrium free for image backups. Both Work well with XP and W7 and SDAV.

Currently running a few tests on this and will see what we find.

Thanks - anxiously awaiting!

As for other backups, I've used Acronis for a year or so - terrible problems with it. Genie Backup had been running fine on my system for past 18 mos - no issues whatsoever.....until Spyware Dr 8 upgrade came along. That is the only thing on my system that changed between when Genie worked and when it began to fail :-(

Further investigation here
With Spyware Dr enabled
Genie Backup manager completes job without errors if compression is disabled
IT fails with compression disabled - something is preventing the creation of main.gbp file
I disabled Spyware Dr and ran the same backup job with compression enabled and the job completes without errors =
Therefore Spyware Dr is preventing the creation of that file. How can this be corrected - besides the obvious of disabling Spyware Dr to run Genie Backup or disabling compression in Genie Backup. I tried white listing two Genie executables in Spyware Dr and that did NOT solve the issue.
Most disconcerting to say the least - this along with the mysterious Game Mode enabling itself :(

Hmmm...I had that "Game Mode" mystery myself the other day as I was trying to get some Apple programs installed and working properly. Were you possibly working with some Apple programs as well?
Once I gave up AGAIN on installing these Apple programs on my computer, the game mode went back to normal.....really strange.

NOT GENIE TIMELINE!!!!! Genie Timeline works fine and I believe I even stated that somewhere along the way. Genie Backup Manager Pro 8.0 for 64 bit systems is the problem - waited all this time and you were checking the wrong software?!
THIS POST SPECIFICALLY STATES GENIE BACKUP MANAGER

After further testing with Genie Backup manager, the problem appears to be Behavior Guard that is causing this issue. While the devs look into a fix, temporarily disable the Behavior Guard plugin in MyAccount.

behavior guard is one of features that make spyware dr a better option that other applications. however, this is twice now in past year that there has been an issue and the solution is "disable behavior guard"
getting to be very unacceptable that every time an upgrade is released there are issues with it like it's a late stage beta version. disconcerting to be a loyal subscriber since early 2000s and this continues :-(
so what exactly do I "lose" by disabling behavior guard?

Behaviour Guard is ThreatFire built-in to SD, SD/AV and PCTIS
From another post:
Behavior Guard – add-on for Spyware Doctor:
Behavior Guard provides leading edge protection from zero-day (never seen before) threats, built on the award-winning ThreatFire technology.
Behavior Guard is designed to pro-actively defend your computer against both known and unknown threats solely by detecting their malicious behavior. Traditional antivirus software cannot do this and only offers reactive protection, meaning it can only protect you from new threats after the threat has been discovered and new signatures to protect against it are developed, tested, and then released for download. Behavior Guard does not rely on signatures to protect you; instead, it uses intelligent behavioral analysis to proactively hunt down and paralyze activities or behaviors that might compromise the security of your computer.

So basically, the feature that Spyware Dr markets as the reason to buy Spyware Dr over other security products needs to be disabled so that it the software can co-exists with other LEGITIMATE applications on a Windows 7 64 bit machine?!
Yeah, that makes perfect sense -
Ridiculous that there is not at a minimum an option to white-list applications - and I've tried allowing via Global Action Lists - all the executables that are associated with Genie Backup Manager - NO JOY
Becoming one very disgruntled, LOYAL customer - this may be strike 3 for PC Tools products for me :(

and two days and counting since last post and no reply from tech regarding whitelisting, etc. - 7 days since tech support verified there is an issue with Behavior Guard and no reply, no response :(

Hi JRBauer,
If tech support identified the issue as related to ThreatFire, you won't be able to white list. This is something done on the PC Tools end.
As AChen noted, development is looking into a fix for the issue, so it sounds like its just a matter of time now before a fix is released.
Also on a side note, backup software is often detected as malicious or blocked by security applications due to the nature of how backup software operates.
