I have a "q" from microsoft pasted in notepad. How do I get it to the registry? Its name is regedit4 and I am to "save as" .reg file. What does that mean and what do I do?

In notepad, go to SaveAs and name it filename.reg

Once it's saved, find it in Windows Explorer and right click it, as select "Merge"

When I go to SaveAs it opens Documents. There are two boxes at the bottom. What do I type in the first box and what goes in the second box, and does it get typed into documents? Thanks for your help.

Post back with the contents of this "q" file from Microsoft so we know what we're dealing with.

Save as like different type of *.txt.Perhaps like *.sys or *.ini,*.reg.Or in dos prompt rename the fiile txt with reg and still work or in folder options go to file types and find *.reg files with what assosiacions are combined:)In the first box type the file name with the extension what your want in the second "ALL FILES" not TXT
