Sorry but Im not a fan of Performance Toolkit. The old DM was much more user-friendly in every sense. I think this has just been rush-released without due thought and attention. For a start the Online User Guide is almost non-existant and merely lists the old cliched list of FAQs. Where is the step-by-step guide to make this piece of software user-friendly? Come on....let's be honest about this...it trips itself up at every stage! "Click clean your privacy to remove all internet traces" There is actually NO tab which has the "clean your privacy" attached to it! And if it's supposed to be a tool for idiots, then let me ask for precise details about EVERY one of its features, with a request for explanations, how they work, what they do, what you do, and what happens afterwards! I have just randomly clicked the Disk Defrag button and it is rather alarmingly "optimising" my D drive! It has already taken an hour and is only 60% through! What the hell is it doing?!! '1 click optimisation of disk and boot files to improve the performance of your disks' DUH...or in other words?????? And don't even bother about 'boot optimaisation' or 'real time defrag'!! Come on Pc Tools, you're hiding behind fancy iconic jargon which does not translate into common sense for the average user. I am very PC literate, but I haven't a clue about the workings of this piece of kit. I need a step-by-step guide for each and every process. Come on..let's hear it CLEANING YOUR REGISTRY, DEFRAGMENT YOUR REGISTRY, TUNE UP YOUR SERVICES, OPTIMISE YOUR SYSTEM, CLEAN YOUR DISKS and SHRED YOUR FILES (the instructions alone for this function defy belief!! "click add or drag and drop files to the list" ok so which particular files are these then? ) And then I'd like a full set of instructions please for the MAINTAIN section. Bring back Desktop Maestro is what I say right now! And if someone doesn't provide me with a full list of explanations and step by step guides, I will uninstall this toolkit and re-install DM

I reckon loads of people must be having similar problems as well with "PT" ! My attempt to get some info from Live Chat tonight in the UK has so far seen me shift from 11th in the queue at 21.50.19 to 5th in the queue at 22.51.00 !!! Is it just one operator on tonight then?!

ok well maybe you should work for them! You might bring credibility to the product. BTW I have just checked my temp internet files after running the Clean Disk function...6 are still there, not removed by the kit! Evidence Eliminator removes all of them!!

Hi,

Many thanks for the feedback. A Lot of things were mentioned in your post so will try to break it down.

For a start the Online User Guide is almost non-existant and merely lists the old cliched list of FAQs

Are referring to the following link?
http://www.pctools.com/utility/help/Online_Help-Utilities.htm

My attempt to get some info from Live Chat tonight in the UK has so far seen me shift from 11th in the queue at 21.50.19 to 5th in the queue at 22.51.00 !!! Is it just one operator on tonight then?!

We are currently checking this out as to why this may have happened.

The old DM was much more user-friendly in every sense

Performance Toolkit’s GUI layout and behavior have not changed from the previous version of DM significantly. Could you elaborate on this statement so we can assist you further?

---

CLEANING YOUR REGISTRY

Online Help -> Optimization -> How do I run Registry Scan section

DEFRAGMENT YOUR REGISTRY

Online Help -> Optimization -> How do I compact the Registry section

The behavior of these core features haven't changed from DM. So if it was ok in DM, it should be ok with PT.

Disk Defrag taking a long time

Disk Defragmentation can take a long time to complete. There are various factors that can contribute to the time taken such as size of the disk or how badly the disk is fragmented.

Not all temp files are being removed

This seems like this could be a potential issue.
Could you provide some additional info:
What section did you select to clean?
What files were left behind and in what location/s?
