I need know which key to change every time the internet explorer is closed it ask do you want to close your ISP connection ((((I'm assuming it is one of the keys contained in the USER.DAT file)))))) I did a quick swap of another USER.DAT file from a desktop that was working fine and it did not ask that Question Right now I'm assuming it is one of the Keys in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER

I also booted the system up with no USER.DAT in the profile and it did not ask the Question either

I'm sure I can find the key if I hunt and peck

also I did a quick delete of the internet Explorer key and imported it from another dat file
ask the same question so I put the old key back

Thanks Mac!!!!!!!!

just try regular GUI functionality before hacking the registry:

1. display the Internet Options dialog, choose Communications tab
2. select your ISP connection in the list, click the Settings button
3. from the new dialog, in the Dial-up Settings area, click the Advanced button
4. remove the check mark from "Disconnect when connection no longer needed"
and possibly uncheck the "disconnect when idle" setting too (have an eye on your phone bill).

I have switch ISP services.. I am a paying customer now.. I was using two of the last free ISP service in my area and they have changed stuff all over the place it has been fun trying to figure out what to put back......the setting is aready set on never disconnect...... I can't find the no longer needed check box......I am running explorer6.0

I tell other people not to change stuff or download stuff and to leave it alone after you get it running because I have found the install software of allot of stuff will not rewrite to the registry and the options are just not there to change it back. I know outlook express 6.0 will not reset stuff you have to reinstall it to get the setting back..... found this out when the wife download some email software from the net for her desk top it flowed over to my desktop and would not let me use my outlook express

I guess i'll just have to hunt and peck LOL

Thanks mac!!!!!!!!

Now with IE6/Preview and associated internet tools, Microsoft has once more been playing around with the options.

Go to Dial-Up Networking, select your connection there, choose Properties.
Here there is a new Dialing tab.
In the lower section you will find the Disconnect options.

Hope this helps !

I have figured out that I ISP driver doesn't have the check mark in it. I have tried to delete it and use the the other ISP driver but it writes it back.....
I found that check box in the old ISP driver just got figure out where the info is keep in the register so I can override it..............
