What OS and Service Pack are you running?
Do you have any other anti-malware running?
Have you had Norton or McAfee in the past?
Pending your answers, I suggest that you get CCleaner (filehippo.com) and run Cleaner and Registry. Run each multiple times time 0 to clean.
Run a Hard Drive error check and defragment as well.
The above steps will help improve performance.

If you are on XP, SP2 you should consider installing SP3. Security improvements and bug fixes.
McAfee leaves a lot of stuff behind that can cause conflicts. Please go to the McAfee web site and get their uninstall too and run it.
Also check your hidden device drivers for leftover drivers. Here is how.

DITO How can I uninstall this piece of Sh--?
What seems to be the problem?
To uninstall:
1. Ensure that you have fully exited the application. To fully exit from Spyware Doctor please right click on the Spyware Doctor icon in the notification area (next to the clock on the Windows taskbar) and select Shutdown from the menu that appears. Please also close any instances of Internet Explorer or other browsers.
2. Perform an uninstall of Spyware Doctor from:
Start(Windows Button) > (All)Programs > Spyware Doctor > Uninstall Spyware Doctor
3. **IMPORTANT** Make sure that the Spyware Doctor folder (which by default would be under 'C:\Program Files') no longer exists. If the 'Spyware Doctor' folder still exists, please delete the folder.
Hi, I've just installed the latest version of spyware doctor with AV
on 2 pc's(vista) and both are running much slower now, programs installed
on my pc's are taking about 5 times longer to open up?
previously i had AVG Free installed and my pc's were absolutely
fine?.......is there any fix to this? as i wont be able to carry on
useing my pc's at this very slow speed.
Thanks
I have just turned off half the Guards in
Intelliguard Protection and my pc is working
at Normal Speed again!:)
its just a case of finding out which ones it is
that will not work smoothly with my pc when
switched on now:confused:

And what are the guards that you disabled which help?
Ive tried disabling everything in INTELLIGUARD
& it is still slowing up BOTH PC's i have it installed on.
also scans wont complete properly & freeze up.
This latest edition of spyware doctor is an utter drain on
your pc's system....the next adjustment i will be
making is "UNINSTALL"

What I'm unhappy about with SD is that you have to pay to remove anything it finds.
Having fluff features disabled is one thing, but having the core reason to use it disabled is almost like a scam. It reminds me of the fake Anti-virus malware programs that give you false warnings to con you into paying the scammer money to remove it.
PCTools is holding the "carrot" just out of reach to get the "jackass" to follow the "path"; forcing us to buy the whole program when all we wanted is a detector and remover.
I know it costs money to develop and sustain the program, but don't say it is free when in the end you have to pay.
Now I have to go through removing the whole program since to me it is worthless and I don't need the extra pay-for features.

Go to google.com and get Spyware Doctor with Antivirus Starter Pack.
It is free, has all the detection and removal capabilitites of the paid for version, but not all the online prevention capabilities.
Then, if you like it, you can always upgrade to the paid for version.

It'd be nice if that was said on the product page. Something small like that means a lot when evaluating a product.
Thank you for letting me know.

You can pick and choose the available pack options.
This version is definitely what is advertised: free to use for scanning and removal. It has all of the available features, just disabled if you only want the free ones. This is what I was looking for.
The Intelli-Scan is very quick, finished in minutes.
I scanned each of my drives separately (knowing full scan would be long) with Custom, and my to smaller drives were fairly quick. My 1TB drive is taking some time, but it appears that is because the scanning process is pretty thorough.
Bottom line: This version of Spyware Doctor is a very good product. If you are concerned with making sure your computer is clean, then this is one product that is worth looking into.
