Hi, previously I have a USB harddisk that is plug into my system that works fine. I have bought a new USB drive and when I plug it in, the new hardware found dialog popups up and asked for the new driver. I provide the driver disk and it install correctly but as soon as it finished, the new hardware found dialog popups again. I tried to point to the driver disk and let it install again but this time it says driver not found.

So I cancel the installation and I can still access my USB harddisk. Now my problem starts, everytime my computer reboot or the USB is unplug and plug in, the new hardware found dialog popups and asked for a driver installation and each time I point to the driver disk, it say no driver found although the driver is in the floppy disk.

Has tried removing the drivers from the registry and I still get the same problem. Can someone offer me some solution please. I am pulling my hair out already. My system is a dual pentium 733mhz using Supermicro PIIIDME mobo running Win2000 with SP2.

Many thanks. you can email to me at drizzle@catcha.com

The rule of USB is to install the driver then attach the device. In windows 9x you will have to go into safe mode and remove all devices that are the same as the one you are trying to install, reboot with the device not attached install the driver then plug it in, i'm not sure about win2k having a safe mode, sorry i don't use it
