When installing my modem on WinNT 4.0 (SP6) I have following error : 692 hardware failure in port or attached device.

It's an internal PCI modem from Aztech (3880 SPW), also no luck with zoom 56K internal. And the problem is I can't use any external modem.

I looked already on the site van Microsoft and all the solutions they suggested didn't work.

Installation with the right drivers is OK => No problems given in event viewer. Modem works -> on win98.
Is there something I don't see when I'm installing my modem ??? Solutions are welcome. I'm looking know almost a week for this problem and I'm really don't have any clue anymore.

Peter,

If the modem works okay on Windows 98 and does not work in NT then the most likely cause is a driver problem. I saw the same problem with a Viking Modem and it was due to the driver. I managed to get it to work by downloading the latest driver from the Lucent Technologies website. They provide the controller chip for the Viking modem.

If you can determine who the OEM is for the controller on your modem cards the same solution may be available.
