I recently formatted and reinstalled Window 98. Ihave everything working correctly except my display driver. My plug and play Monitor on Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA) will only allow me to display 2 and 16 colors. The screen area is 640 x 480 pixels and the slider will not move probably of the limited options in color Display. What do I need to do to correct this?
I do not know the name of my graphics card but the invoice lists S3 Savage4/AGP/168DRAM if that helps. Thanks!

Sounds like Windows can not find the correct driver for your video card so it's using the stndard VGA driver. To fix that you need to get an updated driver from your manufacturer -- since your card doesn't have a brand name you could download the generic drivers from S3 at http://www.winguides.com/ (http://www.s3graphics.com/DRVVIEW.HTM>http://www.s3graphics.com/DRVVIEW.HTM</a>)

Got the display driver I think is correct and downloaded to My Downloads. Now, how do I install? Do I need to go to safe mode and delete anything before I do it. When I tried to Browse... to this location it wouldn't let me.

You'll probably need to unzip it, using a program like WinZip, and then there should be a readme.txt file or something similar that will give you instructions. Usually going to Control Panel -&gt; Display -&gt; Settings -&gt; Advanced then changing the adapter but the readme file will have complete instructions.

I unzipped it with WinZip but there is no ReadMe file and S3_8 Will not open. Should I try another driver on this website?

Tried another driver and got the same thing. Can't open. I'm stuck. Any more suggestions?
