I have configured in my outlook express to download my mails from Hotmail.com.

Now I have transfered all my data from Outlook Express to MS Outlook. I am able to configure my ISP mails, etc. But I am not able to configure Hotmail as I do not know the pop and smtp addresses. But when configured in Outlook Express it automatically configures the hotmail pop and smtp addresses. Is there any way that I can find out the "pop and smtp" addresses or the "http"address of Hotmail from the registry under outlook express?

And also can we take backup of mails and contacts in a single file as possible in MS Outlook?

Advance Thanks for your help

Microsofts Hotmail service has a proprietary format, as much as J know based on the HTML protocol. It is not a SMTP/POP server !
In OE this service is "hardcoded" and will open a special advertising pane that cannot be removed.

J have found following Microsoft KB article that may describe your problem.
<a target="_blank" href=http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q284/3/16.ASP>http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q284/3/16.ASP</a>

J think this is not very helpful, better read the Help file and see there how to setup Hotmail if it is not: from Accounts &gt; Add &gt; Mail and then from the Internet Connection Wizard choose New Account etc.

Thanks for the help you extended. But is there a way of taking a backup in Outlook Express? as in the case of Outlook. In MS Outlook the "outlook.pst" contains the personal folder and contacts and hence act as a backup.

Is there something similar in Outlook Express?

Anyway thanks for your help.

yes, the OE files are hidden within your profile directory.
But rather than explaining all myself, please check following site and take further OE information and tools from there:
