Hi!
At work I use Linux, at home W98. Is there a way in W98 to be able to "lock desktop"? Having a password for screen saver is NOT an option since more people use the computer.
Thanks,
Michael

if J understand you properly, by "lock desktop" you mean to have either of
(a) private setups for each user
(b) the desktop layout is frozen for all.
(a) you mention this is your home machine. This is exactly the place where you should first install Microsofts Familiy logon (from Network apple in Control Panle), then define all household members as Users (Control Panle applet), and depending on the amount of control you wish to have, use the Policy Editor POLEDIT.EXE to restrict the users to a certain degree.
(b) single shared user for all household members: use Policy Editor to restrict what should not be touched. Alternative: look thru the Registry guide on this site and apply the restrictions by using Regedit.exe.

No, what I mean by "locking desktop" is:
I work with the computer and I want to leave for a while. So (under Linux) I click on "lock desktop" which starts a password protected screen saver.
The problem with this under Windows is that if I pasword protect the screen saver, the password is the same for all users whereas I would like every user to have their own password.
Thanks,
Michael

if you have an initial user logon (either to Microsofts Familiy logon or to network) the user will have a personal environment, section (a) of my previous post, and then the screen saver password is individual too, and usually is the users logon password.
