View Full Version : Is Mcafee security center completly useless??
I just purchased and ran Spyware doctor, and it found and removed over 100 threats....
I haddnt been able to find any infections with my Mcafee security center...
Which was set to automatic updates...
Im wondering if SD has made this up.... (which i doubt, because i know of at least 1 virus the QQPass worm , was on my pc)...
Or is mcafee complete rubbish??
Any body else have a simliar experience??

Hi Luke,
Different spyware software use different algorithms to search for malware, therefore it is possible to have different scan results. You may search the PC Tools infections database for a list of certain malware as this is a good way to see the risks of these malware on your computer and the harm they are doing to your pc.
I hope this helps.

McAfee is absolutely awesome for me, used it for 2 yrs and its caught every virus and infection thats tried to go through on my pc. BUT...i use swdoctor too and yes it finds stuff mcafee doesnt..
McAfee is big on security like firewall and virus detection, worms etc not adware and spyware, they just tacked those onto 2007 so it seems like the 'all in one' prog that u really need. But there programs doesnt specialise in certain area's thus other people make ones that do, ie the birth of swdoctor etc...
So as a general virus/firewall prog its great, but the little tack ons like adware remover and HD defrag etc are just dressing to make it look more appealing.
