Upon using my Search Assistant (Win98SE) by clicking the "search" button at the top of my IE5.0 browser, I recently discovered that the search column on the left-hand side of my screen is no longer the default search assistant. It is now a totally different search engine. It is not one of the available engines under the "customize" search settings option either. When I clikc on the "customize" button on the left-hand side search screen (using the "customize" menu), I have the following option selected: "Use the search assistant for smart searching," which I choose to use. However, it is no longer the default search assistant engine on the search column on the left-hand side of my screen. Although the "customize search settings" window shows the various options such as "find a web page, find a person's address, e-mail address, find a business," etc., I no longer see these options in the search column on the left-hand side of my screen. I used to see these options on the left side, but the default "search assistant" is now a search engine I never chose to use, nor is it one of the available search services under the "customize" menu. I believe this changed while visiting a particular website that automatically changed my settings. Can anyone tell me how and where in my registry I can change this back to the default SEARCH ASSISTANT engine?, and what info I need to input? I do not want to use the "use one service for all searches" option, but want to have my default SEARCH ASSISTANT restored back to the original search assistant service. I hope someone can help! Many thanks...
