We need to disable the following items in a Windows 98 registry for a specifc current user Key:
1. Start, Settings(unable to find registry keys to disable Windows Update and Folder Options)
2. The SysTray or Lower Right Corner of your Standard Taskbar.
3. Context Menus - or the ablility to right click on the desktop.
4. My Computer Icon on the desktop - delete it.
Has anyone come across the correct registry keys for Windows 98?
Thanks!

"1. Start, Settings(unable to find registry keys to disable Windows Update and Folder Options"
for Folder Options, have you tried:
http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/441/ (http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/619/>http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/619/</a>
for)
"2. The SysTray or Lower Right Corner of your Standard Taskbar"
not a registry feature, you will need a third party (freeware) utility.
"3. Context Menus - or the ablility to right click on the desktop. "
following is documented to be only for WinNT/2K, but J wonder if does not work on Win98 (if IE is at release level 5.x):
<a target="_blank" href=http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/160/>http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/160/</a>
"4. My Computer Icon on the desktop - delete it. "
have you tried to apply:
<a target="_blank" href=http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/61/>http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/61/</a>
Items found by searching the Registry Guide on this site !

Thanks!
Was able to accomplish # 1 and 3.
However have been unable to find "My Computer" under CLSID to change the attribute in Windows98.
Nor have I been able to use any of the instructions i've found successfully to remove Start Help.
Any other thoughts, or has anyone found the CLSID # of My Computer for Windows 98?

There was another post with the win98 CLSID for "My Computer".
To rename my computer you need to:
HKEY_Classes_Root\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\ShellFolder and set the Attributes Binary number to 70 01 0020.
Then if you add that CLSID # to HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Desktop\Namespace with the default value of "My Computer". You can then right click to delete off of the desktop. However it does not stay deleted but reappears after reboot.
Other than "No Desktop" is there another way to remove My Computer from Windows 98?
