PCMCIA Network Card

While installing Windows Whistler Build 2462, the following error message popped up: The Texas Instruments PCI-1410 Card Bus Controller detected that a device was plugged in or inserted, but encountered an error while applying power or reading the device configuration. This may be caused by a failure of your hardware or by a poor connection. Please try removing and reinserting the device.
This occurs on a Compaq 12XL325 laptop with a PIII 650, 196 Megs Ram, a linksys PCMCIA 100 10/100 Card Bus Adaptor. This laptop runs perfectly well using Windows ME, network card included. Any clues, I've asked Compaq and they tell me they don't support any operating system that isn't factory installed on Presarios. Microsoft, so far, has not responded.

Whistler is still in Beta for a reason, its not done. Until they release it to the public I wouldn't count on any serious support. Just try reporting those beta bugs and stuff and wait for the next build. You can also try taking out the network card if that's the problem.
