View Full Version : Open and/or repair files
Hello,
I've recovered many jpg files using File Recover and can open some of them but a lot will not.
Looking at the options after a scan there is the recover checkbox column and right next to that is a repair option but no obvious way to me to activate or use it, what an I doing wrong?

Hi Aucu,
If you are unable to open a Jpeg, this means the file is corrupt. The repair function only works on .zip and word documents and is triggered automatically.

MS Word crashes every time I attempt to recover a Word file. How can I fix that or prevent File Recover from trying to repair Word files?

I do not have File Recover, but, perhaps this might help.

Some important work pictures of mine disappeared when I was trying to move them from one folder to another ('Cannot move files: cannot find sector *somethingsomething*) but that is not the problem right now. I probably found most of the files with a recovery program, but some of the .pef-files won't open. I really need all these files, is there any way I can make them 'open-able'?
Reeeeaaally appreciate all help.

I believe that it was something like that yes, I can't check since I just borrow my computer from the school and they made a 'raid' where they check if you have something you shouldn't be allowed to have, and of course they took my computer. I will get it back on Wednesday.
Does it matter which program I used?
*Really appreciate the help.*

It's up to you what program you use. There may be better ones then others out there. You might need to shop around. I haven't needed to use a program as this before so I can't offer any recommendations. Maybe others have a suggestion? Try File Recover from PC tools and see whether this helps. If not you can always get a refund if it doesn't fit your needs.
If you get some error or message from the program, you'll need to know what program you used as you may need to contact the author for more information on what that may mean.
Hope that helps somewhat...
