Temperature and cooling fans

Where would I find info on the temperature that's being monitored in my CPU(Gateway Tower, Win98SE) My husband says he has seen in Windows setup where it shows the temperature and was wondering if that info can be found elsewhere in windows? Also, we were considering trying to put a small cooling fan inside the CPU, cause there's alot of heat that comes out of the top of the unit where the CD ROM and the CD/RW is located and the fan that came with it is located at the bottom of the tower in the back and the intake is at the bottom too. Seems like the fan should be located at the top with the intake were it is in front and at the bottom. Wondering if anyone has heard of adding another fan ? Thanks Kim

The best basic setup is a fan at the bottom of the tower, drawing cool air in from outside, and another at the top pulling the warmer air out. Most fans I've seen come with a built-in splitter that lets you plug them in between the power supply and a cable ending (ie where the power cable plugs into say a hard drive).

I have three case fans, the fan on the processor, and two pairs of small fans for my hard drives.

You are really only limited by case design and your power supply.
