Good morning. I have used this site before with great success! I am hoping to do that again!

My inlaws were over a few weeks ago, and my mother inlaw opened an email that caused all hate and discontent. Here are the symptoms...

When the computer loads up, a ton of windows pop up saying " ERROR C:\program files\ *****.exe"

I have tried to run my virus scan, it shows it starting, but shows "0" files scanned and immediately says scan "completed"

Please help!

I do not know what Anti-spyware and anti-virus program you use, but here are some starters to clean up.

1. download and install CCleaner, run Cleaner and registry
2. Download, install, update and full scan Malwarebytes Antimalware
3. Download, install, update and full scan Superantispyware. Uninstall when done so as to not conflict with your other protection.
4. Download, install, update and full scan Avira Antivirus. Uninstall when done so as to not conflict with your other protection.
5. If you are familiar with HijackThis, run it. There is a tutorial in this forum somewhere. I'll see if I can locate it.

I will try what you have suggested...Im just unsure if it will allow me to run the programs. I will post the results.

If you have problems running the programs, you may have to try running them in safe mode.

The above items look suspicious.

I think that you have the Ali.exe trojan.

You are going to have to run the recommended cleaning programs.

See if you can delete ali.exe.

I had already done all of those before I ran the HIJACK THIS. Should I do the whole process all over again"?

Turn your file search options on to search for hidden and system files.

Do a file search for ALI.exe and ALI.rar and delete them.

If they return, you may have to make the changes in safe mode.
