Why is it that the signatures in the enterprise version are about 250,000 and on the Google Free version its around 1,000,000? Is it classified differently are are there really just that much less signatures in the enterprise version?

The SDE database is a previous version. It does not contain data for some of the enhanced scanners & tools used on the standalone version, but not practical in the network version.
