I recently bought a 3 user license for Spyware Doctor with Antivirus. So far, I have installed it on two machines: one on my laptop (on August 3rd) and another on desktop (today). On laptop, everything is working fine. However, today, when I installed it on desktop and activated the product, the behaviour guard is disabled and not working. History mesage repeatedly says "failed to install behaviour guard plugin". I have checked my account on PC Tools website and it shows the behaviour guard as enabled. I have also repeatedly saved the options on website (as advised in the forum). Then, I have repeatedly run the smart update and everytime it asks me to reboot the PC. However, the problem remains the same: the behaviour guard remains greyed and disabled. I don't have ThreatFire installed on my machine. At one point of time long ago, I have used Threat Fire on the desktop. However, subsequently, I have formatted and reinstalled OS a couple of times.
I also have gone through the forums, downloaded the Threatfire removal tool given and run it to clear any entries on the system. This also does not solve the problem. How to enable the behaviour guard?

Please add:
OS, Service Pack, Firewall, any other anti-malware.

Windows Xp, SP3, PCTools Firewall V5.0.0.38 and no other anti-malware. However, prior to installation of SDAV, I was using Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 (licensed version) and Comodo Internet Security (free version) in that sequence (not together).

Could you please remove the following registry key and see if this helps:
Go to Start-> Run-> type regedit-> navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\ThreatFire and remove this key. Once you have deleted this key-> Uninstall and reinstall SD.
Start-> Programs-> Spyware Doctor-> Uninstall Spyware Doctor-> Reboot.
Go to www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/download to download and reinstall SD.
Let us know how you go.

Ok cool.
Could you Uninstall SD and send us the Uninstall logs:
1. Start select Run, type %temp% and click Ok
2. Find the file below
Uninstall Log YYYY-MM-DD.txt
3. And attach it to this thread.
Reinstall SD and see if you are still getting the same problem. If so, could you do the same thing above and also attach the Setup Logs.
1. Start select Run, type %temp% and click Ok
2. Find the file below
Setup Log YYYY-MM-DD.txt
3. And attach it to this thread.
This will help us to get a clearer picture of what is actually going on.

Hi,
I have done as you have advised: Uninstalled and reinstalled. The problem remains. I have also attached the log files. Please advise further course of action.
Thanks.

We checked the logs but it came up clean without any problems.
Is it possible for you to install the PC Tools Internet Security (http://www.pctools.com/internet-security/download/) (You'll need to first uninstall SD) and see if the problem occurs? (the logs for PCTIS will reveal alot more as well. So if the problem does occur, it would be great if you could send the setup and uninstall logs for PCTIS) Sorry for having to do all this. Normally when this occurs, it is related to TF being installed, however, since you don't have those registry keys, it could be anything on the PC that could be blocking Behavior Guard from installing and this is what we need to find out.

Hi,
I have uninstalled SDAV and installed PCTIS. Interestingly, the behaviour guard is now enabled and working. I am attaching the install log. Please go through the same and advise. However, PCTIS is in "un-registered mode" and keeps me tensed up.
Thanks

Hi,
Now I have uninstalled the PCTIS and reinstalled SDAV. The problem remains same. The Behaviour Guard is disabled. I am attaching the uninstall and install logs.
Thanks

This is definitely one strange problem  We can't see anything wrong in the log files either. Not sure why the one in PCTIS is working whereas the SD one isn't. Did you want to try installing the beta version of SD and see if this resolves the problem?

Hi,
I have installed the beta version of both SDAV and Firewall. But, this is also of no use. The Behaviour Guard is still disabled. I have attached the screen shot. What next now?
Thanks,

We will have to look into this further and will try to resolve this for the next major release. In the meantime, you might want to try installing ThreatFire temporarily until the problem is resolved.

I have installed Threat Fire separately and it is working fine. Thanks a lot for all the help and guidance. I hope this issue will be remembered and a solution will be implemented in a furture version.
Thanks,
