I have a HP Pavilions 8650c. it froze up on me/crashed, and my only option was to reformat the hard drive and use the recovery discs given to me with the purchase of the computer. When i restarted the computer, everything was fine until Windows started to load, then the screen went blank!!! It was in windows, but i could not see a thing! I tried reformatting several times again, but nothing is seeming to work! Does anybody have a clue as to how to fix this problem????!!!!

1. Ever before reformatting use fdisk and recreate partitions. Also use fdisk /mbr
2. When formatting use format c: /u /c
3. Check your BIOS setup before recovery (not all recovery disks are able to modify BIOS). If necessary set default (recovery usually does so)
4. Be sure your installation disk isn't infected by virus (might happen if you use boot diskette)
